Halaman 1 dari 2     Seni Tari tradisi Bahhong ini berasal dari sebuah Desa Katol Barat yang terbilang gersang dan tandus di daerah Kecamatan Geger, Kabupaten Bangkalan. Walaupun desa ini gersang dan tandus tetapi di desa ini kaya akan budaya yang perlu dikembangkan, salah satunya adalah kesenian Bahhong.    Bahhong bersal dari kata "Bah" yang berarti manembah, berdoa, memuji dan kata "Hong" yang berarti Tuhan dalam istilah Hindu kuno. Jadi Bahhong bermakna memuji kebesaran Tuhan Yang Maha Esa. Kesenian ini merupakan kesenian yang lahir di jaman peralihan Hindu ke Islam. Hal ini dapat diketahui dari syair dan bentuk sesajen yang harus disajikan sebelum Bahhong digelar. Kalau kita cermati dari syair lagu yang sangat sulit dimengerti, syair itu berisi pujian atau pemujaan orang-orang Hindu kuno. Salah satu yang unik dari kesenian ini adalah bahwa penyaji pujian Bahhong ini tidak boleh dilakukan oleh orang yang bukan keturunan langsung dari Buju' yang menciptakannya. Karena menurut mereka kalau hal tersebut dilakukan maka akan mengakibatkan hal-hal yang tidak diinginkan, seperti kesurupan yang berkepanjangan bahkan bisa sampai gila, sejak awal kesenian ini sampai sekarang para pelaku merupakan keturunan langsung dari buju'. Disaat acara Bahhong ini dilaksanakan, penonton dilarang tertawa atau menertawai perilaku atau syair-syair yang sulit dimengerti. Ada salah satu babak yang menarik yaitu Grabhagan Pajuan (menari) dimana pada babak ini penonton yang berminat diperkenankan berdiri seraya memberi tanda selamat berupa uang yang diselipkan ditutup kepala atau saku pimpinan kelompok ini. Hal ini biasanya dilakukan oleh penonton yang mempunyai hajat atau keperluan.
